More and more people travel
to remote parts of the world these days and inevitably some of them
encounter illnesses that are peculiar to the region they visit. They may
encounter hospital care of a style they had not anticipated and then
need your involvement to help ensure a speedy recovery.
This three hour session
looks at conditions like Malaria, Dengue Fever and Ebola but also
considers the far more common travellers diarrhoea, urinary infection
and mosquito bites. Zoonoses are considered as well as animal that fight
back. The facilities in hospitals is considered, as well as advice to
travellers for altitude, heat, cold, and diving.
This is an interesting and
entertaining course that is ideal for Protected Learning Time in a
General Practice. It may be sponsored by Pharmaceutical Representatives
promoting medicines relevant to travel.
