Pre-hospital Emergency Obstetrics Course

Many General Practitioners are designated as being on the Obstetric List. It may however have been many years since they last had any refresher training in those procedures that may save one or two lives when the unexpected Obstetric Emergency presents itself.

In past years there was an Obstetric Flying Squad available from every Maternity Unit, but now these teams have largely been disbanded leaving Paramedics and Immediate Care Doctors to fill the void. None of us wish to meet these desperate situations, but they do happen, and it could be exceedingly difficult to demonstrate a critical evaluation of your needs for continuing professional development if your last refresher in obstetric practice was over ten years ago.

This one day course is designed to help fill the gap. It accepts that specialist equipment, drugs and knowledge will not be available at the time of the emergency. It looks at the minimum that has to be done to provide the best chance of a favourable outcome for both the mother and the child.

Costing only £100 (plus VAT at 17.5%) the course covers a wide range of subjects in an interesting and informative manner, allowing you to finish the course having enjoyed the day, gained post graduate training and increased confidence in handling the dreaded scenario.
