Intermediate Airway Course
This
is a three hour course that is suitable for General Practice, Voluntary
Aid Societies and Mountain Rescue Teams as well as people involved in
Sports Injuries and Fitness Centres.
The concept taught is the
"Airway Ladder", starting with ensuring competence in manual airway
manoeuvres, progressing on to a practical skill station in suctioning
the airway, then on to both oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airways.
The bag-valve mask resuscitator and pocket mask are both covered as is
the use of oxygen. Finally we cover the use of the Combitube®
and the Laryngeal Mask Airway.
All candidates receive a
Certificate of Instruction which confirms their ability to appropriately
choose and use the equipment in the training scenario. Actual use of the
Combitube or LMA will depend upon the candidates authorising authority
and should be after supervised live casualty experience. The cost of the
session is £275 plus VAT for up to eight candidates and £350 for nine to
sixteen candidates. Larger numbers can be accommodated, prices on
request.
