The Company History
Eventmed UK is a training and development company formed by doctors
experienced in teaching both their general practice and immediate
care acquired skills. Unlike some other training companies in the
field we do not use instructors who have learnt the theory but haven't
got the experience. Go and take a look at our team profile, these are
people with specialist skills and experience.
The
company was formed in 1998 to run Race Course Medical Officer courses approved
by the Jockey Club and the Medical Equestrian Association. Interest
in the courses rapidly led to requests for a variety of other related
subjects. The Directors and the staff cover a wide range of disciplines
and can offer a variety of emergency care courses that can be tailored
to your individual needs, from First-Aid courses to Advanced Trauma
Rescue.
Teaching is very orientated towards intensive "hands on" skill teaching.
Lectures when essential, are computer generated to allow the best
of visual presentation. Course notes are designed to allow ease of
learning with space for notes and self test questions at the end of
every section. The modular presentation allows for the notes to be
continuously updated.

In 2002 the
company formed a working relationship with Blackpool Airport Fire &
Rescue Service to provide the facilities, resources and expertise to
enable very realistic training for pre-hospital care emergencies.
In 2003 we
attended AMBEX for the first time, ran our first Pre-hospital
Emergency Care course for BASICS and started taking credit card
bookings.
In 2004 our
income had reached the point we had to register for VAT, our
Equestrian Event course was approved by the Royal College of Surgeons
of Edinburgh and we started developing new courses with
the College. We also gained a regular contract with Chorley & South Ribble Primary Care Trust to train their staff in Basic Life support
and Anaphylaxis Management.
In
2006 we worked with a variety of different companies supplying bespoke
courses to meet their needs. The second edition of the Safety at Scene
manual was published as an e-book.
2007 has introduced us to a new venture, that of training Forensic
Medical Examiners (Police Surgeons). We have done emergency skills
training in the custodial environment for the local prisons in the
past, and had several years ago prepared a Custody Officers Medical
Awareness Course so we were able to take these elements and provide a
new course.
