Emergency First Responder

Emergency First Responder is a new qualification in emergency care. It is a course designed for members of the public. It can be taught to a wide range of ages and skill levels. It is particularly relevant to families that have a relative who is at increased risk of needing emergency help.

The course has been designed by the world renowned Professional Association of Dive Instructors and uses the latest developments in medicine and teaching.

You will be taught how to identify an emergency, and how to safely take control, calling for the emergency services, and starting life-saving measures prior to their arrival. You will be taught how to use the latest generation of heart start machines, for whilst the emergency services respond rapidly the chance of restarting the heart drops by 10% every minute it takes for the machine to arrive, so in six minutes you have lost over half your chance to save a life. If you have gone for a walk in the country, or along the beach, you are unlikely to get help in time.

Eventmed UK will teach an entire family of up to six individuals and will arrange the purchase of an appropriate Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), supplying training materials, and after sales support for around £2750. (Prices of AED's vary and mileage may be applied outside Lancashire)

For this amount each family will receive a training video that clearly shows the various skills required. Each family member will be able to watch the video as many times as they wish before the instructor visits your home to provide you will face to face tuition. This allows everybody to learn at their own pace, and helps overcome the problems of those with special learning needs. The pre-course preparation also allows any grand-parents or others who do not speak English easily to learn from the book and video with the help of a friend or relative as interpreter.

Each family will also get a Deluxe training package of an Emergency First Response manual and a useful first-aid kit. This will not only act as a valuable addition to the emergency resources in the home, but will also slip easily into a back pack with AED and a mobile phone when out for a walk, thus ensuring you always have the ability to save a life as well as deal with those much more frequent minor accidents. Each family member will receive their own course book

If you have a diabetic in the family, we can teach use to check blood sugars and give Glucagon injections or teach you how to use an Epi-pen in the case of anaphylaxis.
