General Practices and other organisations who want evidence of competance in Basic Life Support should choose this course. The time taken to complete it depends on the number that need to be examined, as each candidate take about ten minutes. We will bring a second examiner if more than eight candidates need to be examined so the overall session should not take much more than an hour and three quarters at the most. It is suitable for lunchtime or evening meetings sponsored by Pharmaceutical Representatives.

The format consists of a short talk on the principles of resuscitation and the recent changes in technique with the 2005 Guidelines, followed by practice on mannikins. Each candidate has their own "face" to prevent any risk of infection and we routinely teach the use of pocket masks and other resuscitation aids. We teach the recovery position and also include management of choking. The candidates are then individually examined and every successful participant receives a Certificate of Competence. Eventmed UK Ltd guarantees that the holder demonstrated competence in the procedure on the date of examination. The certificate is valid for one year.

The course is compliant with the Resuscitation Council Guidelines issued in December 2005. . The cost of the session is £275 plus VAT for up to eight candidates and £350 for nine to sixteen candidates. Larger numbers can be accommodated, prices on request.
