Basic Life Support and
Anaphylaxis
This course is designed for
Practice and District Nurses, Health Visitors and Midwives who work in
General Practice. It is completed in about an hour and three
quarters and is suitable for lunchtime or evening meetings but is also
often booked for afternoon Protected Learning Time sessions.
The format consists of a
short talk on the principles of resuscitation and the recent changes in
technique with the 2005 Guidelines, followed by practice on mannikins.
Each candidate has their own "face" to prevent any risk of infection and
we routinely teach the use of pocket masks and other resuscitation aids.
We teach the recovery position and also include management of choking.
After mastering the resuscitation skills we provide a concise talk on
the identification and management of anaphylaxis out of hospital.
The course is compliant with
the latest Resuscitation Council Guidelines issued in February 2008. Every
participant receives a Certificate of Attendance. The cost of the
session is £250 plus VAT for up to eighteen candidates
"Our attendees at our mandatory training
session wanted me to feed back to you again on the BLS & anaphylaxis
session. They could not stress enough how well the session was
presented and that ‘Vic’ did a fabulous job – all agreed that this was
the best BLS that they had ever been to & the most useful."
"The feedback was universally
excellent. For those who had been on life support courses previously,
thy particularly noted, not only how efficient, but how entertaining and
informative your session was .... is there an opportunity to get you
back to run another session?"
